The foreigners who have relatives in Moldova or come to Moldova for service or study purposes can freely enter the country, President Igor Dodon specified in the program “President Responds”, IPN reports.

“Earlier today, I talked to Minister Dumbrăveanu. These restrictions were lifted for the foreign citizens who are related with or married to Moldovans or who come for service or study purposes to the Republic of Moldova,” stated President Dodon, answering a question put to him.

Igor Dodon criticized the National Extraordinary Commission for Public Health’s decision to relax some of the restrictions, like the reopening of sports halls without allowing access to changing and shower cubicles. “What kind of sport will be there in sports halls? Don’t those who take such a decision ever go to sports halls? This is a strange decision, to my mind. I do not want to criticize the doctors and my colleagues from the Government, but for me these decisions are very strange. We will open the sports hall and what should the persons do – wait for rain outside and then get dressed? No one understands those decisions.”

The official noted the restrictions cannot be lifted altogether as the burden on the health system will be even heavier as a result. The health system can now deal with at most 4,500 active cases. There are now about 3,500 such cases. “If we had lifted all the restrictions on May 1 or on May 15, we would have filled the hospitals. The restrictions were lifted gradually as we realized that the number of infections will rise,” stated Igor Dodon.
