The fleet of Fly One airline includes three planes that are 24 years on average. Director of the Civil Aviation Authority Nicolae Buzu, as a result of a request made by MP Inna Supac concerning the company’s activity, said in Parliament that the airline was founded in 2016 and all its planes meet the security norms, IPN report.

Asked by the Communist MP if the age of the aircraft is safe for flying, in connection with the delay of a flight operated by Fly One from Heraklion to Chisinau, Nicolae Buzu said the age of the aircraft is less important than the fact when the plane is repaired and where. All the airline’s planes obtained international authorizations that allow transporting passengers. The company was also subject to an international audit and all the results showed that Fly One meets the European passenger transportation requirements.

He added that not the age of planes, but the shortage of these is a problem in Moldova. Faults in aircraft are witnessed everywhere. Fly One also bought a plane that is 10 years and this will be brought to Moldova towards the end of this month.

As to the instruments for making airlines more responsible, Nicolae Buzu said the recently adopted legislation is designed to protect passengers and the directors of airlines will have to meet the norms or will pay millions of dollars damages to passengers.

A plane owned by Fly One running on the Heraklion-Chisinau route had to land back after taking off from the Nikos Kazantzakis international airport on Crete following a warning signal issued by the aircraft’s command board on July 2. In a press release, the company said all the 170 passengers were safe. These were accommodated and were later transported to Chisinau.
