Floodwater reaches Grozesti village of Nisporeni

Over 160 hectares of fields and orchards as well as wells have been flooded in Grozesti village of Nisporeni district. The water also entered 20 houses that are situated closer to the Prut, local social worker Aliona Marin said, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. A new wave of water is expected in the neighboring village Barboieni. “We are storing drinking water and gathering sand to build up the barrage,” said mayor of Barboieni Valeriu Protopop. Major Dumitru Sasu, the head of the Civil Protection Division in Ungheni, said ten houses have been inundated in Macaresti. The floodwater reached the foundations of another 22 houses. The situation in Cahul district is stable, said the head of the Cahul Rescuers Detachment Ion Caraja. The floodwater from the Danube and at the mouth of the Prut started to recede, he added.
