Flood compensations available for farmland outside of built-up areas too

Compensations for the agricultural land affected by floods last summer will be available both to physical and juridical persons, irrespective of the land's location within or outside of built-up areas, Info-Prim Neo reports. This became possible after the Government adopted modifications to the Regulation on the allotment of funds for the compensation of the damages incurred by households as a result of the floods in the summer of 2010. The compensation is 1,000 lei per hectare and will be paid from a special Treasury account created for this purpose. The Government also established a list of towns and villages which will enjoy exemption of VAT, customs duties and excises on the materials and services needed to repair the flood-related damages. The list includes locations from the districts of Briceni, Cahul, Cantemir, Hincesti, Nisporeni, Ungheni, Riscani, Edinet, and Anenii Noi.
