The first case of influenza this season has been registered in the Republic of Moldova. The patient is a 33-year-old woman from Criuleni district, diagnosed with seasonal influenza type B. According to the National Agency for Public Health (ANSP), the young woman had not been vaccinated against influenza, IPN reports.
Immunization against influenza continues in public health institutions across the country. So far, more than 97% of the total doses received have been administered. Seroprotection is generally achieved two to three weeks after vaccination. The duration of post-vaccination immunity varies between 6 and 12 months.
ANSP data show that almost 4 900 cases of respiratory infections were recorded between November 18-24, with the majority (60%) in children, an increase of 1% compared to the previous week and a decrease of 24.1% compared to the same period last season.
During the past week, 30 cases of COVID-19 (6 in the Transnistrian region) were registered, an increase of 3.5% compared to the previous week. Among children under 14, 6 cases were reported.
Specialists recall the importance of observing personal hygiene measures - washing hands with soap and water, using handkerchiefs for sneezing or coughing, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, including a diet rich in vegetables and fruit, adequate rest and regular exercise.
