The Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices issued the first authorization for the cultivation of hemp for the purpose of producing seeds, fibers and/or oil. The document was issued by the Agency's Standing Committee on Drug Control.
According to the institution, hemp cultivation complies with the approved technological act, and hemp intended for the production of seeds, fibers and oil is cultivated according to agrotechnical norms, IPN reports.
Industrial hemp is a profitable and easy-to-maintain crop. With a 90-day growing cycle, it allows for two to three harvests per year. Hemp captures large amounts of carbon dioxide, helping to combat climate change, the Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices said in a press release.
The service for the authorization of cultivation of hemp for industrial purposes is available online on the portal actpermisiv.gov.md.
