Eight firefighting vehicles for dealing with exceptional situations were donated to volunteer rescue and firefighting stations of Moldova by a volunteer firefighters organization of Austria. The handover ceremony took place on July 27, IPN reports.

Four firefighting vehicles will go to four villages where volunteer rescue and firefighting stations were already opened. These are Larga village of Briceni district, Capacilia village of Cantemir distort, Colibas village of Cahul district and Selemet village of Cimislia district. Another four vehicles will be used by rescue posts that will be opened soon in Moldova.

The cooperation relations between the General Inspectorate for Emergencies and Austrian volunteers were established over six years ago. Based on cooperation programs, the Austrian volunteers brought 38 firefighting vehicles to Moldova.

Under the program to strengthen the rescue and firefighting service in rural areas, over 100 volunteer rescue and firefighting stations are to be opened in Moldova until 2020. Over 40 such stations work at present. These intervene in emergencies the first, until specialized teams come.
