Two large fires broke out in the north of the country. The first fire engulfed a warehouse of building materials in Edineț on the evening of March 25, and the second one started at a warehouse in Balti municipality on the morning of March 26, IPN reports.
According to the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, the fire in Edineț was reported at 09:40 p.m. The flames, fueled by the wind, spread over an area of 2400 square meters, destroying the roof and stored goods.
The operation to extinguish the fire involved 51 firefighters and 13 special vehicles.
The fire was localized at around 01:44 a.m. and was completely extinguished in the morning of the next day.
The mayor of Edineț Constantin Cojocari came with a video message of thanks for those who helped to put out the fire.
"It was a large fire with which teams of rescuers from all neighboring districts dealt," said the mayor.
He also appreciated the involvement of the police. "It was a proof of the fact that only together we can be strong," noted Constantin Cojocari.
In Balti, the alarm was raised on Thursday morning, at 07:07 a.m., after the flames engulfed a warehouse.
The firefighters acted according to the increased level of intervention. Inside the building, there were plastic and cardboard objects and various types of waste. A staff team was set up on the spot to manage the process of localizing and extinguishing the fire.
No one was hurt in the two fires.
