A devastating fire engulfed last night the Church “Saint Archangels Mihail and Gavril” of the monastery located in Chistelnita village of Telenesti district. The village’s mayor Constantin Ciobanu has told IPN that there were destroyed all the things inside the church, including valuable religious objects. Experts are estimating the damage caused and are to find out the cause of fire.
According to firefighters’ reports, the fire was noticed in the evening of April 29, close to midnight. Four firefighting vehicles travelled to the scene. The fire, which covered an area of about 300 square meters, was put out in over two hours.
The source of fire hasn’t been yet established.
