The president of the Civil Society Congress warns about the danger of vote rigging in the municipality of Chisinau. Fiodor Ghelici, who is a candidate for municipal councilor, told a news conference on June 3 that he possesses information that a group of persons will vote instead of other voters, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Fiodor Ghelici said that according to his information, a group of persons was created in Botanica districts, who are to go to polling places where they reached agreements with members of the electoral offices and be issued with ballots instead of other voters. Fiodor Ghelici said that every member of this group has the task of visiting at least five polling places in Chisinau. At least 3,000 signatures will be thus falsified.
The president of the Civil Society Congress said that he wouldn’t have believed this information, if he hadn’t known that attempts were made to employ this scheme at the legislative elections last year. He said that during the parliamentary elections of 2010 acquaintances of his went to vote and found signatures in front of their names in the list. Thus, somebody voted instead of them.
According to Fiodor Ghelici, the votes will be falsified between 6pm and 9pm, when the observers are tired and will not monitor attentively the voting process. Those who intend to rig the votes can do it by using preparations that erase the ink from the identity card for multiple voting.
“The fight will be harsh and there will be no diplomacy and culture. Dishonest methods will be employed to conquer power. Last year, they also stole votes. We must improve the political situation. Thus, I call on the voters to take part in the elections,” Fiodor Ghelici said.
