Activist Fiodor Ghelici, who is Moldova’s representative at the International Organization for Educational Development (IOED) with the head office in India, expressed his concern about the political situation in the county. In a news conference at IPN, Fiodor Ghelici said the Organization is ready to offer Moldova US$ 550 million for different projects, but suspended the given initiatives owing to the political stalemate.

According to Fiodor Ghelici, the money is intended for projects to build and outfit medical education institutions, to erect an ultramodern medical center and centers of excellence in healthcare and to purchase medical equipment.

The activist drew a parallel between sufficient investment in the health system and the population’s migration. He believes that if Moldova benefits from non-reimbursable financial assistance from the IOED, the phenomenon of migration could decrease. These investments would also ensure development prospects for medical tourism.

Fiodor Ghelici said that if snap elections are held in Moldova, the country will be in a difficult economic situation. The International Organization for Educational Development during a month has waited for the representatives of the Government to be named so as to constitute a joint commission that would examine and approve the priority projects for Moldova.

“The International Organization for Educational Development calls on the politicians to cooperate and reach a compromise, a political solution that would help avoid snap parliamentary elections for the benefit and prosperity of the Republic of Moldova,” stated Fiodor Ghelici, assuring that he personally, together with his team, will monitor the efficient use of money, alongside another three representatives of the Government.
