Financial sector employees remain Moldova's best paid

The average monthly salary in Moldova was 2,641.5 in the first five months of this year lei. In may the average salary stood at 2,745.8 lei, Info-Prim Neo learned from the National Statistics Bureau. The rise from the first five months of last year constitutes 9.9 percent in real terms. In the public sector the average salary was 2,296.4 lei, while in the real sector 2,845.3 lei. Among Moldova's best paid employees are those in the financial sector (5,552.1 lei) and public utilities (4,613.8 lei). The employees in transportation, communications, real estate, and public administration are paid mopre than 3,100 lei. In May, the average salary in the public sector was 2,455.4 lei, and in the real sector 2,913.8 lei. The subsistence level calculated for the employable population in the first quarter of 2009 was 1,410.2 lei (1,496.9 lei for men) and comprised the value of the food and non-food goods necessary in a month (services, utility bills, clothing, footwear, medical assistance).
