A sum of 5.5 million lei was allocated this year for providing financial assistance to vulnerable elderly persons through local social support funds on the occasion of the International Day of Older Persons, IPN reports.
The categories of beneficiaries and size of financial support will be decided by the local authorities.
In the municipality of Chisinau, lump sum payments of 500 lei will be provided to 1,000 persons older than 75, who got no financial assistance this year. The lists of recipients will be compiled and presented by the Chisinau General Social Assistance Division.
The beneficiaries from Chisinau can collect the money from the branches of “Moldindconbank”, while the rest from the local offices of Moldova’s Post Office.
