After a new hearing at the Chisinau Appeals Court in the case of ex-Premier Vlad Filat was put off, lawyer Igor Popa told the journalists that the behavior of the prosecutors, who didn’t appear in court, is strange. The defense asked for the replacement of prosecutor Adriana Betisor, arguing that she seriously violated the principle of presumption of innocence, IPN reports.

The lawyer said Adriana Betisor made a series of public assertions that led to the appearance of materials saying that Vlad Filat is to blame for the theft committed in the financial-baking system.

Igor Popa noted he requested the court to question three persons from the Russian Federation. The judges accepted the request, but entrusted the lawyers with the task of ensuring the presence of these witnesses in court. Ilan Shor will be questioned in this case on October 25, while Veaceslav Platon, Mihail Gofman and Oleg Reidman were rejected by the court for being questioned as witnesses.

The next hearing was scheduled for October 19.
