Filat and Shevchuk approve plan of action for next period

“We had a good meeting and discussion. We agreed the plan of action for the next period,” Prime Minister Vlad Filat said in a news conference held after a meeting with the Transnistrian leader Yevgeny Shevchuk in Odessa, Info-Prim Neo’s correspondent in the city reports.
Vlad Filat said the Moldovan authorities will create all the necessary conditions for the economic activity on both banks of the Nistru River to improve. He stressed that the final decision as regards the restoration of the railway freight transportation routes on the Transnistrian segment will be taken in the near future.
Yevgeny Shevchuk said the meeting showed that the sides are ready to cooperate in dealing with the problems confronting the people. The unblocking of the economic relations is for the benefit of the economic entities from both banks of the Nistru.
As to the peacekeeping posts set up in the Security Zone, Vlad Filat said all the parties must become involved in discussing this issue so as to reach a consensus. Yevgeny Shevchuk said they are not yet considering changing the format of the peacekeeping mission as it maintains security in the region
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Constantin Grishenko said he was glad that the first meeting between Filat and Shevchuk took place in Odessa and the parties expressed readiness to solve the existing problems.
The next Transnistrian conflict settlement talks in the 5+2 format will take place in Ireland’s Dublin at the end of February.
