Writer Vladimir Besleaga will be laid to rest on Friday, February 28, a day declared as a national day of mourning by presidential decree. At 12:00, a moment of silence will be observed in his memory, IPN reports.
In all localities across the country, as well as in Moldova’s diplomatic and consular missions abroad, the State Flag of the Republic of Moldova will be flown at half-mast.
The Presidency recommends that public authorities, businesses, and organizations refrain from organizing mass entertainment events, and that media institutions take the significance of the day into account when publishing content and planning broadcasts.
Vladimir Besleaga, a great writer of the nation, passed away on February 25 at the age of 93. He was born on July 25, 1931, in the village of Malaiesti, Grigoriopol district. His first novel, Zbor frant (1966), is recognized as one of the most remarkable post-war prose works and a novel that reshaped Moldovan literature.
