The new holder of Moldova’s Cup experienced an unpleasant situation. Owing to the offending, provoking and instigating behavior of its supporters, FC Tiraspol was Wednesday fined 200,000 lei by the Moldovan Football Federation’s Competitions Committee, IPN reports.

Before the final with Veris Chisinau, during the playing of Moldova’s anthem, the fans of FC Tiraspol chanted offensive and disrespectful slogans against the country’s state symbols. Thus, they created imminent preconditions for disorder and violence on the stadium, it is said in the argumentation of the Competitions Committee.

FC Tiraspol won the match against Veris in overtime by 6-4. The Transnistrian team obtained thus the right to represent Moldova at Europa League. The draw where Moldova’s opponents in this competition will become known will take place at the UEFA head office in Nyon, Switzerland, on June 24. In Europa League, Moldova will be also represented by Dacia Chisinau and Milsami Orhei. Sheriff Tiraspol will compete in Champions League.
