FC Sheriff sign Portuguese player

FC Sheriff Tiraspol on Tuesday got the signature of Beira-Mar's midfielder Joao Pereira on a 3.5-year contract, the club announced on its website. Pereira was discovered by Sheriff's managers during Moldova's encounters with Portugal in the 2013 European U-21 Championship qualification. On September 1, the 21-year-old scored one of the two goals for Portugal in a match played in Tiraspol. Joao Pereira is a product of Benfica's football school. He also played for the Portuguese clubs Fatima, Beira-Mar and Trofense. After the first half of the National Division season, Sheriff are at the top of the table with a narrow one-point lead ahead of Dacia Chisinau.
