The Association “Force of Farmers” does not give up the protests announced earlier. From Wednesday, the farmers will stage protests in almost all the country’s districts and will take their machinery to the demonstrations. At the initial stage, the protests will be mounted at the local level and will be then extended to the capitol city if the farmers are not heard, IPN reports.

“We heard again a number of very general promises for an indefinite period of time at a time when most of the small and medium-sized farmers risk going bankrupt during the next two-three months. In the discussions (with the authorities), the farmers ascertained that some of the more concrete promises formulated by the authorities in March haven’t been yet delivered. Our request to the Prime Minister to sign a memorandum with at least four of the five demands, by indicating concrete fulfillment time limits, was rejected,” said the “Force of Farmers”.

The farmers noted that the protest will be peaceful and will not involve political forces.

The Association demands to provide compensation for the production costs incurred by small and medium-sized farmers, in the amount of at least 3,000 lei per ha of crops of the first group, such as wheat, barley, rapeseed and others, by August 1, 2023, to temporarily restrict the import of wheat, corn, rapeseed and sunflower sees into Moldova from Ukraine by a decision of the Commission for Exceptional Situations, to clear all the overdue subsidies for 2022 until July 1, 2023.
