Farmers from a number of Moldova’s districts intend to reach the central square of Chisinau to protest together with their tractors. For this reason, traffic jams appeared on a number of streets of the capital city. The police repeatedly called on the famers to free the lanes, IPN reports.

The farmers set off for Chisinau with their tractors on Wednesday. On Thursday, they started their journey to central Chisinau and blocked a number of road sections.

The General Police Inspectorate called upon the farmers to comply with the requests of the traffic police and free the lanes for the public and private transport to be able to pass as the citizens do not bear any blame.

Several days ago, the public association “Force of Farmers” presented a draft document with farmers’ demands. They ask to ban the calculation of penalties for the delayed payment of loans, to constitute a commission of representatives of responsible institutions and producers’ associations, to examine farmers’ files and to oblige the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, if necessary, to issue notices to confirm that the famers cannot pay their debts due to drought or other objective circumstances so that these are not obliged to pay.

Last weekend, representatives of the “Force of Farmers” had a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Bolea, Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry. They considered the proposal to set up a working group that would start to receive files through the agency of local agriculture divisions so that the affected farmers benefit from support.
