The law on the organization and functioning of agricultural chambers, approved by Parliament, puts a lot of pressure on the agricultural sector. The statement was made by the executive director of the Farmers' Force Association, Alexandru Badarau, newly appointed advisor to Prime Minister Dorin Recean on agriculture, at a press conference at IPN.

"Communication and everything related to processes in agriculture will become more complicated and bureaucratic. The law on agricultural chambers is unconstitutional because it establishes an organization that somehow obliges economic agents to become members of these agricultural chambers", Alexandru Badarau mentions.

Regarding the public consultation process of this draft, he says that "it was rather a well directed show".

"Absolutely no criticism, no proposal was taken into account in relation to this law for the agricultural chambers and the same formula was kept. Even if the law mentions that the association will be an independent structure, the politicization and the influence of politics on this structure is obvious," Badarau added.

The executive director of the Farmers' Force Association exemplified how exactly pressure will be put on farmers.

"I can give the example of a small wine producer who now already pays to two organizations and is obliged to do so if he wants to develop and do business. With the intervention of the agricultural chambers, he will be obliged to pay a third compulsory subscription".

The conference was also attended by representatives of other agricultural associations, who also spoke against the law.

"The main argument of the initiators is that it is only through these agricultural chambers that it will be possible to attract European funds. I didn't understand. But who is stopping us from attracting European funds?" said Ion Rata, president of the Association of Hemp Growers, Breeders and Processors of the Republic of Moldova.

Pavel Prisacaru, president of the Association of Sheep and Goat Breeders, says that the authorities' words are nice, but not their deeds. "They talk very nicely to the public about advance payments and subsidies, but in reality, when the farmer wants to benefit from what they are talking about, it is not possible, he encounters difficulties," he says.

"We have given a negative opinion and we have made our opinion clear. We don't see the agricultural chambers in this version," added Sergiu Vesca, director of the National Federation of Farmers.

The law was passed in final reading on March 6 and is due to enter into force on January 1, 2026.
