Acting minister of justice Fadei Nagachevski denies the assertions of the leader of the Our Party Renato Usatyi, who said that one of the meetings of the Government was held at the head office of the PSRM. Nagachevski said such assertions are untrue and the declaring of the state of emergency has no politician connotation and just offers additional tools to the outgoing Government in the fight against the pandemic, IPN reports.

Fadei Nagachevski noted the Cabinet members have never met with representatives of the PSRM at the party’s head office. Moreover, the declaring of a state of emergency was necessary in order to offer additional powers to the outgoing Government.

“At the head office of the PSRM, the Cabinet members didn’t have meetings with representatives of the PSRM. The state of emergency was declared in order to fight the pandemic as the Government does not have powers to manage the state resources in the fight against the pandemic. The state of emergency offers us more powers. The declaring of the state of emergency is a form of empowering a Government during a short period of time,” Fadei Nagacevschi stated in the program “Black Box” on TV8 channel.

The minister noted he considers the practice of meetings between the Cabinet members and the Parliament Speaker is productive and welcome.

“The Government does not receive instructions. We work according to the principle of separation and cooperation of powers in the state. We come together once a week to discuss the pandemic situation and I do not see a problem in the fact that we meet with Speaker Grechanyi in Parliament. I think other Speakers also acted this way,” stated Fadei Nagacevschi.

On March 31, the MPs of the Party of Socialists and of the platform “For Moldova” voted to declare a state of emergency at national level until May 30. The opposition criticized the decision, describing it as a political move as Parliament during the state of emergency cannot be dissolved.
