The justice system of the Republic of Moldova works without a strategy and without a well-thought-out plan. Moreover, the last justice sector development strategy expired in 2018, while the next document will start to be applied next year, if this is adopted by Parliament, IPN quoted Minister of Justice Fadei Nagachevski as saying in a TV program.

“We haven’t yet adopted another strategy and plan of action. They acted chaotically in the justice system. Respectively, a justice minister comes with a particular approach, the second comes with a different approach, whereas the third minister with another approach. A plan of action and a justice sector strategy are adopted in order to ensure continuity in the activity of the Ministry of Justice in the field of lawmaking in justice,” Fadei Nagachevski stated in the program “Moldova Live” on the public TV channel Moldova 1.

The minister noted the next justice sector development strategy of the Republic of Moldova could be applied in 2021 – 2024, if it is carried by Parliament.

“The strategy and the plan of action were debated on all the possible and impossible platforms, with the involvement of civil society, all the parliamentary groups, development partners and the Council of Europe. The documents were developed under the aegis of the Council of Europe together with an ad-hoc group of the Council of Europe that offered technical support to the Republic of Moldova back in December 2019,” stated the functionary.

Fadei Nagachevski said the authorities should ensure the principle of continuity of reforms or both society and the judiciary will face instability owing to the actions of the political players.
