The Popular Republican Party (PPR) appeals to all the diplomatic missions of EU member countries accredited in Chisinau and OSCE to offer assistance for the Moldavian schools from Transnistria. PPR considers that the Government from Chisinau does not undertake all the necessary measures for solving this problem.
Nicolae Andronic, the president of PPR declared on Wednesday, April 19, at a press conference, although the school year will soon end the Government of the Republic of Moldova, particularly the Ministry of Education did not undertake the necessary steps to avoid and to prevent the critical situations, that could occur, at any time at school from the left side of Nistru that are under the jurisdiction of Chisinau.
PPR worries about the fact that starting with the next school year, the pupils and teachers from those schools could once again become a target for political settlings of accounts between the leadership from Chisinau and Tiraspol. “As far as we know, the Moldavian Ministry of Education did not even try to include in the list of foremost important problems this one. As a result we could find out at the beginning of the school year something or someone restrains normal education process”, said the leader of PPR.
In this context, Andronic announced about appealing to the diplomatic missions of the EU member countries and to OSCE, soliciting them to identify some financing possibilities for paying: the rent of the buildings were the children study, repairs of the schools, organizing summer camps for the children from the named schools and from other institutions from the left side of Nistru and UTA Gagauz-Yeri and the schools from the right side of Nistru.
PPR considers that the support of the European countries for solving this problem could have a favourable effect regardless of the general view of the Transnistrian conflict settlement, added Andronic.
The president of PPR said he is not pleased of the way Moldovan leadership manages the Transnistrain problem. The official Chisinau must not discuss whether the people from Transnistria are good or bad, whether they should or should not pay for the rent of the buildings, declared Andronic. He says we must ask why the communist leadership did not solve the Transnistrian crises, as president Vladimir Voronin promised when taking the post. Andronic also announced that he will soon present his own settlement plan of the Transnistrian dispute.
The problem of the Moldavian schools from the left side of the Nistru appeared in the summer of 2004, when the Transnistrian authorities demanded these schools to follow the education curriculum elaborated by Tiraspol.
