2017 and 2018 from economic viewpoint were failed years and the witnessed economic growth was rather recovery than development, experts Veaceslav Negruță, Veaceslav Ioniță and Sergiu Tofilat were quoted by IPN as saying in the talk show “Expertise hour” on Jurnal TV channel.

Transparency International Moldova expert Veaceslav Negruță said that if we consider the growth and investment potential, the years 2017 and 2018 were failed years. Serious investments, especially from outside, are still being waited for and this is mainly due to the lack of coherence in the economic and financial policies.

Furthermore, both in 2017 and in 2018, Moldova didn’t receive sufficient financial resources from the EU and the IMF owing to the fact that the Moldovan authorities abided by a business, group agenda. “In fact, Moldova woke up again isolated from active economic processes and didn’t get those €100 million in macro-financial assistance,” stated Veaceslav Negruță.

Economic expert Veaceslav Ioniță said in 2017 and 2018 the economy rather recovered. “As regards the economic side, exports grew and 80% of the growth was due to the larger exports to the EU. But this growth looks more like recovery. After falling, we have gradually returned to the initial point,” stated the expert, noting the  authorities’ inability to restore the relations with the foreign partners was the biggest failure in 2018.

Expert of the WhatchDog.md community Sergiu Tofilat said the last three years in Moldova’s development can be described as stability in the government’s incoherent policies, in the irrational use of public funds, in decisions that are not based on economic logic. “What is done is regrettably not in the people’s favor and this road goes nowhere. We actually waste time and public finances and this affects rather seriously our situation as the citizens of Moldova do not wait, but leave,” he stated.
