The bloc ACUM’s proposals to name Andrei Năstase Parliament Speaker and Maia Sandu Prime Minister are unacceptable and the bloc can thus remain outside the game. On the other hand, the given proposals show the bloc treats the senior state posts rather seriously. Contradictory opinions on the issue were stated in a program on Vocea Basarabiei TV channel.

Political pundit Corneliu Ciurea said the bloc ACUM formulated such proposals being constrained as it refused to have discussions with the Democratic Party and the Party of Socialists. It knows that these proposals will not be accepted by the other parties. The Democratic Party will not accept that package of laws concerning the “de-oligarchization of the country” and the removal of the chiefs of a number of state institutions, while the Party of Socialists will not accept the so-called “Magnitsky law” given that this refers also to Russian citizens.

“I think they will leave this game honorably and will remain in the opposition. I don’t know why, but they are firmly convinced that snap elections will take place or an alliance will be formed by the Democrats with the Socialists. They thus distanced themselves from this process and formulated those unacceptable offers,” stated Corneliu Ciurea.

Doctor of constitutional law Alexandru Arseni said the bloc ACUM submitted those proposals in a move to show that it has candidates for the posts of Speaker and of Premier. “They didn’t say that they want these posts and should be offered them. They said the groups have these candidates. This step showed that the bloc ACUM treats these posts rather seriously,” stated Alexandru Arseni.

According to him, the elected MPs should obey the Constitution and should take part in the discussions scheduled by President Igor Dodon for next week. Now that all the parliamentary groups were constituted, they can start to elect the executive bodies of the legislature.
