An exhibition of documents and publications was staged at the National Library on the occasion of the 110th anniversary of the birth of poet Liviu Deleanu. This was inaugurated on February 8, IPN reports.

The Library’s director general Elena Pintilei said the exhibition consists of about 80 volumes of poetry, children’s books, translations edited in different periods , newspapers and journals with publications of the author and articles about Liviu Deleanu. Among them are articles signed by Ion Ciocanu, Baca Deleanu, Petru Negură, Nicolae Rusu, Mihai Cimpoi, Haralambie Corbu, Anatol Codru. The exhibited documents and publications form part of the collections of the National Library and the National Archives Agency, with some of them being presented to readers for the first time.

“The exhibition is designed to bring Liviu Deleanu into focus. Earlier, in school textbooks, Liviu Deleanu was present more with children’s poems and there was period when the bard was ignored. But we must not forget the authors who wrote here, on Moldova’s territory, especially those who were very talented, but weren’t appreciated on time owing to particular historical periods. Liviu Deleanu forms part of them,” stated Elena Pintilei.

The exhibition can be visited in the central block of the National Library, on the second floor, until February 28.

Liviu Deleanu (Lipa Cligman) was born in Iaşi on February 8, 1911. He made his debut in 1927 with the poetry book Magic Mirrors, which was followed by The Hour of the Vigil and White Mud.
