Execution of 2023 state budget ended with a deficit of 16.1bn lei

The total revenues of the state budget in 2023 were over 64.6 billion lei, up 9% compared to 2022. The expenditure amounted to 80.7 billion lei, by about 17.7% higher on 2022 According to the Ministry of Finance, the execution of the 2023 state budget ended with a deficit of 16.1 billion lei, being financed from internal sources, external sources and the modification of the balance of funds, IPN reports.

The general and collected revenues came to 63.8 billion lei, while the revenues of projects financed from external sources – to 799 million lei.

The revenues from the taxes administered by the State Tax Service totaled 27.5 billion lei, while the revenues from taxes administered by the Customs Service added up to 35.2 billion lei.

The total revenues of the state social insurance budget were 38.6 million lei, while the total revenues of the mandatory health insurance funds were 14.5 million lei.

The total revenues of the local budgets at the end of 2023 were 28.7 million lei. The execution of local budgets ended with a deficit of 322.4 million lei.
