Volunteer environmental inspectors from the Czech Republic shared their experience with mates from the Republic of Moldova within a project supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affair (MFA) of the Czech Republic. In a news conference hosted by IPN, Petru Vinari, communication consultant at Biotica Ecological Society, said that their Czech counterparts proposed transferring experience. For the period of the project, the group of volunteer environmental inspectors from Ștefan Vodă turned into an NGO led by Nicolae Nastasi.
Petru Vinari noted that they want the environmental protection activities in natural areas and the participation in different environmental protection projects to be conducted by people who work at the scene and can share their experience.
Ion Bulmaga, head of the Environmental Protection Inspectorate, stated that transparency and cooperation are important for the institution and they therefore cooperate with environmental volunteers. Year by year, the people become increasingly aware of the environments problems and the creation of the system of volunteer environmental inspectors comes as a supplement to all the other actions.
He approved of the work done by the volunteer environmental inspectors – people who love nature, home and community. According to him, they will identify a mechanism for rewarding the volunteer environmental inspectors, including financially.
The volunteer environmental inspectors are issued with a permit by the Environmental Protection Inspectorate to perform raids together with the Inspectorate’s employees, to combat poaching, illegal tree felling and other violations.
Volunteer environmental inspector Nicolae Nastasi, a founding member of the public association of volunteer environmental inspectors Rangerii, noted that each citizen should contribute to the protection of the environment as this is “everyone’s home”. Together with the team of environmental volunteers, they managed to solve a number of environmental problems and the activities go on.
