The Excellence Center in Winemaking and Winegrowing was opened at the Stauceni-based National College of Winemaking and Winegrowing, IPN reports.
“I’m glad that the oldest institution for training specialists in winemaking and winegrowing - the National College of Winemaking and Winegrowing that in two years will celebrate 175 years - is situated not in France or in Italy, but in Moldova. What we are expecting from this project is to have modern technologies implemented here, which would help train specialists based on the best practices and the market requirements,” Prime Minister Iurie Leanca said in the opening of the Excellence Center.
The project has a number of components. The educational component envisions the revision of the curriculum and the working out of new programs of study. Within the other components, there will be planted new vineries and the micro-winemaking center will be modernized. The quality control and research infrastructure will be improved. Changes will be also made to other rings of the education process and in the tourism infrastructure of the National College of Winemaking and Winegrowing.
Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vasile Bumacov said that Moldova, which is a country with old winemaking traditions, must have the best specialists in this field. The Excellence Center will become a platform for exchanging opinions and experience and for renewing the knowledge for the economic entities working in the wine industry too.
The total budget of the project is €4.1 million. The money will be allocated by the Government of Moldova and a number of foreign partners.
