Former prosecutor general Alexandr Stoianoglo, who is running for the office of President, launched the election campaign near the Triumphal Arch in Chisinau, in the square of the Metropolitan Cathedral “Nativity of the Lord”. Together with members of the Party of Socialists (PSRM), whose support he enjoys, Alexandr Stoianoglo made a number of promises, including to fight corruption, to release persons who were unjustly deprived of liberty, to attract investments, to modernize social facilities, and others, IPN reports.
“The absolute majority of Moldovan politicians stopped proposing any program. They only discuss programs and principles. Some believe that votes are won with food packages and envelopes on election day. Others are firmly convinced that only administrative resources are enough not to wait for surprises in the election. These politicians treat the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, the majority of voters as their lackeys because that’s how it is. I think it’s time to surprise this so-called elite. Let’s surprise it with our civic responsibility, our cohesion, our optimism and our just victory. Justice for all,” Alexandr Stoianoglo said in the launch event.
The former prosecutor general said that as President, he will serve not only as an example of political optimism, but will also succeed in uniting citizens with the most different views around a common goal – saving of the people, European modernization of the country and strengthening of national security.
The leader of the PSRM Igor Dodon, said that the Republic of Moldova is at a crossroads. “The citizens expect the future President to be a responsible, humane, politically unbiased leader with a well-developed sense of justice. The citizens expect the President to be concerned with the interests of his country and not with the interests of other countries. And these natural expectations are fully associated today with the personality of Mr. Alexandr Stoianoglo,” stated the Socialist leader.
The campaign prior to the presidential election and the constitutional referendum of October 20 began today, September 20. The four candidates registered so far as contenders in the presidential election and also the 10 registered referendum campaigners can carry out electoral agitation activities from today.
