The former Minister of Economy and Commerce, Valeriu Lazar returned to his previous activity related to consultancy services. At present he is the head of a consultancy company – “Business Intelligent Service”. Lazar says that he launched his company in 2001, but its activity was halted for 3 years. Valeriu Lazar announced the re-launch of his company at “Moldinvest” exhibition which takes place at the International Exhibition Center “Moldexpo”. According to him, at present consultancy assistance is very important for getting informed on opportunities and business competitors. Lazar considers that the consultancy service, which at the moment is only a support for the real business, will become after a while a strong business itself. At present, the local and foreign companies feel the need of consultancy; they need to adjust their strategies, because many persons started businesses without having the slightest idea about them. Thus, out of the 100 thousand enterprises from Moldova, only 30 thousand are active, Lazar added. “Business Intelligent Service” Company performs studies on competitiveness, which could minimize or even exclude the risks of certain partnerships. Also, the company offers services on obtaining authorization and concluding papers at the state bodies. As regards the consultancy market of Moldova, Lazar mentioned that at present many Moldovan specialists have a high professional level, fact which makes them competitive in other countries. “We are capable of making these services internationally available so that Moldova becomes a regional hub between East and West, and I believe that consultancy services could become more valuable than export of goods”, the cited source emphasized. Valeriu Lazar was dismissed via a presidential decree on September 18, 2006. The Presidency publicized a press release by means of which it announced that the dismissal of the minister was determined by the unsatisfying activity of the Ministry. He was replaced by Igor Dodon, the former deputy-minister of Economy and Commerce. Lazar held the office of deputy-minister of Economy and Commerce whilst this structure was headed by the present speaker of the Parliament Marian Lupu. Valeriu Lazar is the first dismissed minister of the present Government, named also “Tarlev 2”, which acts since April 2005.
