The former deputy prime minister for reintegration Alexandru Flenchea said the key to the Transnistrian conflict is in Chisinau, but the politicians ignore this subject because it does not bring electoral advantages to them. Moreover, according to experts of Promo-Lex, the constitutional authorities in Chisinau ignore the deviations on the left side of the Nistru because there are economic interests behind, IPN reports.

Alexandru Flenchea noted the solution to the Transnistrian dispute is in Chisinau, but the politicians do not devote attention to this issue as it is irrelevant to the voters from the left side of the Nistru.

“Politicians have a false perception that the Transnistrian problem does not matter for the voters. Addressing the Transnistrian issue, they consider they do not gain electoral advantages. The politicians are obliged to explain to the people what they lose if the Transnistrian conflict is not settled and what they gain if the country is reunified,” Alexandru Flenchea stated in the talk show “Good evening” on the public TV channel Moldova 1.

The ex-chief of the Border Police Rosian Vasiloi also considers the Transnistrian dispute is ignored by the constitutional authorities in Chisinau.

“In opinion polls, the Transnistrian issue is at the end of the people’s key preoccupations because the citizens don’t know the problem. The press should more often treat this issue as the ordinary people from the left side of the Nistru are completely neglected by the authorities,” stated Rosian Vasiloi.

Expects of Promo-Lex said that even if the human rights are often violated on the left side of the  Nistru, while the cases concerning the non-observance of the basic human rights are lost at the ECHR, the Moldovan authorities to not take attitude.

“The key is in Chisinau, at least as regards the human right. Every time deviations are committed, the authorities in Chisinau do not give signs that they want to prevent such situations and that they want to create a legal framework that would fight these phenomena. There is no will in Chisinau and it is clear why: there are economic interests, schemes, party interests behind,” said he director of Promo-Lex Ion Manole.

According to unofficial reports, over 400,000 people live on the left side of the Nistru. During the past ten years, the population of the Transnistrian region has declined by 10%.
