The Ministry of Education and Research will fund the training for all the people who signed up for this year’s edition of the National Program for studying the Romanian language, Minister Dan Perciun told a press conference on Wednesday.

To expand the number of beneficiaries, the Ministry is going to organize an additional purchase of services, so as to cover the need for courses for a number of more than 12 thousand applicants, compared to 5 thousand planned originally.

“We are very happy to see there is such interest in this strategic program and we are firmly committed to being able to fully offer the Romanian language courses for all those who have signed up”, Dan Perciun said.

The national Romanian study program is intended for adults who want to improve their knowledge or study the Romanian language from scratch. Most applications were submitted by people living in Chisinau – 6911. Of the total number of applicants, over 9,000 asked to study the beginner level (A1) or the elementary level (A2). 56% of applicants opted for online courses.

The courses will be organized from March to December 2024. The duration of a course will be 120 hours on average, depending on level, compared to the 2023 course which had 60 hours.
