The best European practices to develop the capital city and to increase the benefits for the local community are discussed at the Social Urban Forum that is held in Chisinau. The pandemic crisis, the refugee crisis and the energy crisis essentially affected the social sector of the municipality of Chisinau. After the Chisinau City Hall mobilized at all levels, each challenge was turned into new opportunities, mayor general Ion Ceban stated in the opening of the event, IPN reports.
“Despite all the difficulties that we and everyone faced, we must make sure we do not have children on the street and without assistance, persons in difficulty without assistance, abandoned older persons and persons without social services and decent living. It is essential for everyone to have access to high-quality medical, social and educational services,” stated the mayor.
According to Ion Ceban, the best practices and opportunities for Chisinau to become better from all viewpoints - safe, developed, inclusive – and the merger of the infrastructure aspect and high-quality services will be discussed in the forum. The capital city must align itself with the cities that implement sustainable energy efficiency projects so that more projects and investments are attracted in the field of energy efficiency.
Deputy mayor of Chisinau Angela Kutasevich said the social services are intended for the people. “We set the goal of organizing this forum as an activity that will help to primarily strengthen all the social areas or all the municipal divisions that are responsible for the social sector, the whole community of social services, social service providers operating in the municipality of Chisinau. We needed to see if we do things as we should or we need changes and this activity was planned as a result. We hope that during these two days, we will manage to exchange experience and put it to good use,” stated the deputy mayor.
In the 13 panels of the forum, the participants will listen to the presentations of over 100 speakers from 30 cities. Each of these will tell about the road covered by their cities, experienced challenges, identified solutions and results achieved in developing social services for the inhabitants.
