The European Parliament’s messages about the Republic of Moldova will be heard by the Moldovan people, not yet by the political class. Such statements were made in the program “Moldova live” on the public TV channel Moldova 1, IPN reports.

Political analyst Oazu Nantoi considers the political elites in Chisinau will not take into account the criticism leveled at them by the European MPs. “Everything is equal to zero. Our politicians do not take into account the criticism of the people who voted for them. They fear nothing. It is rather a message to the people of Moldova for these to realize what is going on and to take measures,” stated the politician.

Cornelia Cozonac, director of the Journalistic Investigations Center, considers the November 24 message addressed by the European Parliament is harsher than ever. “If until recently the Europeans addressed diplomatic messages to us, with hidden criticism, now they spoke directly about the state of affairs and the messages were very harsh. It’s strange that the politicians do not want to understand this. The messages are addressed more to the people of Moldova, meaning that things inside the country should be changed and that somebody cannot come from outside to change them,” she said.

Corneliu Ciurea, expert of the Institute for Development and Social Initiative “Viitorul”, believes the EU bears a part of the blame for the situation in Moldova. “I think our political class is not deaf, but it does not take account of all these messages, being obsessed with the problems inside the parties. The EU bears a part of the blame for the developments in our country. They knew very well how things stand here, but tolerated everything until recently,” he stated.
