MEP Siegfried Mureșan has announced the political groups’ decision to include a debate on the situation in the Republic of Moldova in the agenda of the European Parliament’s plenary session of next week. The debate will center on the challenges with which the Moldovan authorities have to deal in the period, IPN reports.
“Since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine a year ago, I have insisted that the Republic of Moldova is as important as Ukraine for the security of Romania and the European Union. Namely because of this, we need to become involved for the EU to better help the Republic of Moldova to overcome the current challenges, to take new measures for the benefit of the people and to be ready to start the accession negotiations with the European Union,” stated the MEP.
According to Siegfried Mureșan, next week’s debate will be a very good moment for the European Parliament to show again all its support for the European integration of the Republic of Moldova. The debate will be followed by a resolution that the European Parliament will most probably adopt in its April plenary session.
