The members of the European Parliament consider that the resumption of the Transnistrian conflict settlement talks in the “5+2” format as favourable for all parties involved, as well as for the results of the regional cooperation of Moldova with South-Eastern European countries, said Moldova’s Foreign Minister Andrei after he took part in the meeting of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the European Parliament.
European Parliament members also showed their interest in continuing the consolidation of Moldova’s economic development, especially by attracting a higher number of investors.
In reference to the messages by Moldova’s Foreign Minister, Marianne Mikko, head of the European Parliament's Commission on Cooperation with the Republic of Moldova, stressed the need for certainty and clarity regarding the future of the Moldovan-EU relations, conditions that require significant efforts from both sides.
Another subject of the discussions was the cooperation with EU regarding a simpler visa regime for Moldovan nationals, as well as the situation created, as of January 1, 2007, by the new visa requirements for Moldovan citizens who enter Romania.
