On May 14, the people can visit the European Night of Museums after two years of restrictions. As part of the current edition, the National Museum of Arts of Moldova will stage creation workshops, performances of classical and jazz music, poetry recitals and self-portraiture master-classes with plastic artists between 7pm and 11pm.
“In the period, the National Museum of Arts of Moldova is visited by a large number of people, with an average of 1,000 to 2,000 persons a day. The importance of the European Night of Museums resides in the ensuring of free access to the museum’s collections for a large number of visitors and their access to the organized workshops. We make effort to ensure suitable conditions for the comfort of those who will take part in the event,” the Museum’s director general Tudor Zbârnea has told IPN.
According to Lucia Postica, vice director of the Museum, this year emphasis is placed on cooperation between the institutions of culture. The music program will be varied and will feature Organ Hall artists Ion Negură (flute) and Olga Iuhno (piano), lead singers of the National Philharmonic “Sergey Lunkevich” Elena Demirdjean, Adriana Spunei, Violeta Botezatu, Marian Stârcea and many other artists. There will be held creation workshops for children and adults and a poetry workshop moderated by poet and dramatist Dumitru Crudu.
The gravure workshop will be moderated by graphic artist Ruslan Roșca. The artist noted that the goal of the workshop is to familiarize the public with interesting and captivating art techniques and to teach them to find a balance between black and white. The workshop is intended for persons older than 15 as there will be used sharp objects that can cause inconveniences to those around.
Master of Arts Mihai Țăruș will give a self-portraiture masterclass. The master said those who will try to make their portrait can externalize their thoughts and feelings in an unexpected, unknown posture and can learn something new about themselves. “What we are and what we think about us are two different things,” he stated.
The European Night of Museums is at its 18th edition, being initiated by the Ministry of Culture of France. It is held under the aegis of UNESCO, the Council of Europe and the International Council of Museums.
