The road to the integration into the European Union is not easy and implies sacrifices on the part of all those involved and the fulfillment of commitments, Romania’s ambassador in Chisinau Daniel Ionita was quoted by IPN as saying in the program “Emphasis on today” on TVR Moldova channel.

“I’m optimistic about the European political future of the Republic of Moldova,” said the diplomat. He noted that if the country’s European course is reversed, the citizens of the Republic of Moldova will suffer the most as they will be deprived of the possibility of gaining more and better and of travelling so freely.

According to the ambassador, the twofaced game played by the Moldovan authorities with the European Union can bring about results, but only in the short term. “Such a game will not be winning in the long run and we see what’s happened to the place reserved for the Republic of Moldova within the Eastern Partnership several years ago” stated Daniel Ionita.

Poland’s Ambassador to Moldova Bartłomiej Zdaniuk said the European integration does not change a country by itself. It is a kind of assistance from the European countries, but it depends on the beneficiary how this opportunity is used. Furthermore, it is wrong to assess the success and the level of rapprochement with the EU through the angle of the assistance provided or not. The volume of foreign investment is also important.
