The enshrining of the European course in the Constitution can be interpreted as intention to extend the voter base, chairman of the Center for Initiatives and Public Authorities Monitoring Ion Dron stated in the program “Key issue” on NTV Moldova channel, IPN reports.

“As the PLDM broke up in parts, the stipulation of the European curse could be an attraction point for voters,” said Ion Dron. According to him, such a move is also made by the government to please the Europeans, but this will not have an effect on the development partners. “For the government, supporting the European partners could be a way out, but these partners actually do not hurry to support the government,” stated Ion Dron.

Jurist Pavel Midrigan said the government can suggest nothing else and thus wants to enshrine the European course in the Constitution. The fact that the government does not ask the population about the amendment of the Constitution is not normal because the rulers represent the people. “Did we offer them such powers? Did they ask us?” he inquired.

Pavel Midrigan noted the amendment of the Constitution will actually offer nothing to the Republic of Moldova and concrete actions are needed to make progress.
