The European Union is ready to further support Moldova if the government continues reforms as intensely as before, stated EU Delegation Head Dirk Schuebel. The ambassador noted at a press briefing on Wednesday that this year the EU's financial assistance to Moldova for the first time topped 100 million euros. “This is a clear and eloquent signal to encourage your country to move forward and continue the started reforms”, stated Dirk Schuebel. According to the ambassador, the European Union will transfer to the Moldovan government over 120 million euros to support the reform in the justice sector and assist it with rural development. Further assistance will come in the form of grants and loans from the European Investment Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. Dirk Schuebel added that Moldova should continue the reforms of the judicial system, of the Prosecutor General's Office, where efforts should be stepped up, as well as the reform of the customs and fiscal services, and of the Ministry of the Interior.
