Moldova and the European Union launched a mobility partnership in Brussels on June 5, signing the Joint Declaration within the Justice and Internal Affairs Council, Info-Prim Neo has learnt from a communique by the European Commission Delegation to Moldova. Vice President of the European Commission, Jacques Barrot, stated that by launching the mobility partnerships, the EU involves directly in the process of joint management the migration flows which shall allow both the EU and its partners to face up the challenges migration entails. In the same context, European commissioner for External Relations, Benita Ferrero-Waldner, welcomed the mobility partnership between Moldova and the EU. According to her, the new generation of partnerships will allow Moldova and the EU to tackle together the issues related to migration and to development which are essential for the life of Moldovan citizens. The mobility partnerships are in a pilot-stage for the time being, and represent new EU tools meant to offer a concrete expression to the partnerships between the EU and the third countries concerning the joint management or migration processes . Moldova and Cape Verde are the first two states with which the EU starts the process. The Hungarian embassy in Chisinau already runs an offices which issues visas for a number of EU countries in this respect.
