Ethno Jazz Festival opened

The National Theater “Mihai Eminescu” hosts the eighth Ethno Jazz 2009 Festival organized by Trigon band. Famous and legendary jazz singers will perform this year for the Chisinau public, Info-Prim Neo reports.
One of the festival organizers Anatol Stefanet, the leader of Trigon, said that among this year's surprises are Georgia's The Shin, Austria's Klaus Paier, one of the greatest accordionists in Europe, France's Louis Sclavis and the laureate of the French Music Award “Best Artist of the Year” 2007 Steve Shehan (France-the U.S.).
The Chisinau public will be entertained by the band Duende y aire from Brazil and Renato Borghetti Quartet from Spain. Trigon, the Shin and Djabe from Ukraine will perform on the first day of the festival, which will last by Sunday, September 27. The performances start at 19.00 daily.
“This festival made Moldova famous abroad. We stated to promote jazz immediately after Trigon was founded. The eight editions of the festival and the professionalism of the participants confirm the increased interests in jazz,” Stefanet said.
According to the organizers, the festival will be included in a new edition of the World Festivals Catalog issued by the Russian Records Agency.
As at the previous editions, the festival will be held concomitantly in Chisinau and Tiraspol. Spain's Duende y aire and Russia's Vladiswar Nadishana will give jazz concerts at the Music College "Anton Rubinstein" on September 25 and September 28.
Besides promoting good music, the festival also does charity acts. A part of the money from the sale of tickets will be given to the newborns ward of the Clinical Hospital No. 2, the boarding school in Socii Noi village, the boarding school No. 1 in Chisinau and to stage veterans.
Eighty bands from 33 countries, including Japan, India, Argentina, Surinam, Spain, Israel, France, Germany, and Georgia participated in the previous seven editions.
The festival's partners this year are Moldcell, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, the Embassy of Germany, the Embassy of Brazil, the Embassy of the U.S., the OSCE Mission, UNDP, the French Alliance, the Austrian Cultural Forum, the Polish Institute, Moldavian Airlines, Austrian Airlines, Coffee RAIV and Grawe Carat.
