{The news story titled “Members seek dismissal of CEC administration” broadcast on September 30 contained a mistake. We specify that jurist [Nicolae Raileanu] is [the representative of AMN to the Central Election Commission], not member of the Commission.} Jurist Nicolae Raileanu, the representative of Our Moldova Alliance (AMN) to the Central Election Commission (CEC), demands that the administration of the institution and of the Audit Office be dismissed over flagrant violations of the legislation and obedience to the former communist government, which imposed a pro-Communist behavior on them to the detriment of the laws,” Info-Prim Neo reports. At a news conference on September 30, Raileanu said that the most important inspection body of the state, the Audit Office, discovered no resounding case while the Communist had been in power as the institution's administration did only what it was told by the former head of state Vladimir Voronin. Speaking about the CEC, Nicolae Raileanu said that the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe have recently admitted that irregularities in the April 5 and July 29 elections were indeed committed. The CEC made the greatest contribution to these irregularities. The Commission's administration – Eugeniu Stirbu (president), Renata Lapti (vice president) and Iurie Ciocan (secretary) were given Swiss watches in reward “for special merits”, Raileanu said, adding that by accepting the gifts the three violated the law on the conflict of interests. Raileanu considers that the new prosecutor general has enough grounds to open legal cases against the three functionaries. The watches worth 400 to 1,850 euros were bought with public money. After April 5, the former administration of the country offered presents to 180 persons holding responsible positions, including ministers, consultants, judges and prosecutors. Jurist Nicolae Raileanu considers that those who accepted valuable presents, violating thus the law, can make statements and admit guilt. He also said that though the term has not yet expired, the CEC administration should be dismissed as it is not normal that the parties that entered the Parliament do not have representatives in the CEC.
