Eremei Priseajniuc stepped down as vice president and board member of the European Social Democratic Party (PSDE), leaving the organization altogether. This happened after the PSDE decided to field non-member for president.

“The process of nominating the (party’s) was seriously compromised”, said Priseajniuc, citing procedural violations.

“I dissociate myself from the current leadership of the party and the decision to nominate a candidate from outside of the party, a decision that, I believe, jeopardizes our European path and the values for which we stand”, the politician added.

In late July, PSDE president Ion Sula announced he would endorse former minister of defense Valeriu Pleșca for president.
