Citizens enrolled in the "Help at the Meter" program have started receiving information about the energy compensation amounts granted for the period of December 2024 - March 2025. Additionally, the money for December has already been transferred to the beneficiaries' cards, IPN reports.
For example, in the case of a pensioner family that received around 300 lei in compensation for November, this amount has been increased to 1,000 lei. In another case, a household with a family of four, including two minors, which was not eligible for compensation in November, will receive 500 lei.
The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection states that, with any tariff increase, the authorities will adjust the compensation value so that consumers are not affected by price hikes.
For the third consecutive year, the Government is providing energy compensation to vulnerable households through the "Help at the Meter" program. The compensations are granted from the Energy Vulnerability Reduction Fund, financed by the state budget, with the support of the European Union and other development partners.
While in previous years the compensations were applied to the bills or provided in a mixed form, this year they are granted exclusively in monetary form, meaning cash amounts transferred directly to the beneficiaries' cards or sent by mail.
In addition, in light of price increases at the beginning of January, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection announced that it will also provide compensation for electricity and heating.
