The central power distributor Energocom has prolonged the contract for the purchase of electrical energy with the Kuchurgan Power Plant (MGRES) of the Transnistrian region for March, IPN reports.

Under the contract, approximately 244,000 MWh or 88% of the necessary electricity will be bought from MGRES at the same price as until now - 73 USD/MWh, Energocom has said.

The company will continue purchasing electrical energy from Romania’s SN Nuclearelectrica SA and the amount projected to be bought in March is of about 18,000 MWh (or 6.5% of the necessities). The price is 450 RON/MWh (about 91euros/ MWh).

It is estimated that at hours when power consumption is the largest, another 5% of the electricity will be bought from the Romanian OPCOM.
