The personnel of “Antena C” and “Euro TV” submitted to the Court of Appeal a request for summoning the Chisinau Municipal Council and interim mayor Vasile Ursu in court. This was announced at a press conference by the employees at the two institutions on Thursday, January 4.
The journalists requested to urgently suspend the procedure of selling the two institutions and annul the precursory normative documents; to cancel interim mayor’s orders regarding the appointment of new managers of the TV channel and radio station; to oblige CMC and interim mayor to re-establish the normal functioning conditions of the institutions; to oblige CMC and interim mayor to pay damages totalling 100,000 lei for each plaintiff. 37 employees of the two institutions have filed such requests.
Ecaterina Mitin-Stratan, vice director of “Antena C” says it is puzzling that “Radiocomunicatii” SE is not hurrying to remove the technical problems, which caused the radio signal’s disruption, and to conclude the contract for 2007. These facts prove that the authorities intentionally delay the resumption of the radio broadcasting, so that the Audiovisual Coordinating Council has a ground to withdraw its licence, she stated. The cited source said that “Antena C” will sue the Government for these actions.
Dina Pripa, chief editor of the advertising and news Desk of “Euro TV”, stated that the interim manager of the TV channel Vasile Nastase censors the materials of the journalists, neglecting especially the news concerning the two municipal audiovisual stations, and those that criticise the incumbent government.
Vasile State, director of “Antena C” dismissed on December 14, told Info-Prim Neo that he will sue the decision on dismissal in court. Arcadie Gherasim, who was dismissed from the post of director of “Euro TV Chisinau”, also said he could bring a legal action.
