Eligible Moldovans can vote in EP elections on Sunday until 10:00 p.m.

Fifty-two polling stations, of which 28 are located in the central districts, 17 in the northern districts and seven in the southern districts of the Republic of Moldova, will be available to electors to vote in the European Parliament elections on Sunday, June 9. In Chisinau municipality, the electors can vote at any of the 13 polling stations established in the capital city, IPN reports.

The Embassy of Romania in Chisinau in a press release said that voting starts at 07:00 a.m. and ends at 10:00  p.m. Voters who are at the polling station at 10:00 p.m. and those who are in line outside the polling station, waiting to enter the polling place, can exercise their right to vote until 11:59 p.m. at the latest, in accordance with the law.

The diplomatic mission warns that no polling stations are organized at the compound of the Romanian Embassy or at the Romanian Cultural Institute “Mihai Eminescu”. The closest polling stations to these locations are “Gheorghe Asachi” High School (three polling stations), “Spiru Haret” High School (three polling stations), the Moldova State University (two polling stations) and “Satiricus” Theater (one polling station). The Romanian citizens with the right to vote who have the domicile, reside or are temporarily abroad can vote at any polling station established abroad with a Romanian identity document valid on election day. These are: the identity card, the electronic identity card, the provisional identity card, the identity card, the simple passport, the simple electronic passport, the simple temporary passport, the diplomatic passport, the electronic diplomatic passport, the service passport, the electronic service passport and, in the case of students of military schools, the military service card.

In the elections for the European Parliament on June 9, 2024, voting with travel documents is not allowed. At the same time, the Embassy warns that in order to be able to vote, the identity document must be valid as it is not possible to vote with an expired document.

Foreign citizens of other EU member states, domiciled or residing on the territory of Romania, can vote for Romanian MEPs only if they had previously registered in Romania on the special lists to vote in these elections.
